Curriculum

Saint Anne Catholic School consists of Pre-Kindergarten (4 years old by September 30) and Kindergarten (5 years old by September 30) through 8th grade (successfully completed the previous year's grade).

The Diocese of Las Vegas has adopted Teaching for the 21st Century, the Graded Course of Study for all subjects from the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. The intent of this graded course of study is to provide the classroom teacher with identifiable and measurable objectives in all subjects.

The curriculum stresses a fundamental educational program integrated with Catholic/Christian philosophy and values. Our curriculum includes the content standards set forth by the Nevada State Board of Education.

Our academic program emphasizes language arts: reading, writing, speaking and thinking skills and is integrated in all areas of the curriculum. Our math program emphasizes thinking, computation, and problem solving skills and experience based-learning.

Students receive instruction in the following areas:

  • Religion
  • Language Arts (Reading, English, Writing, Spelling, Vocabulary, Phonics, and Cursive Handwriting)
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • Computer
  • Music
  • Art
  • Physical Education and Health

Classroom teachers are responsible for all subjects taught to the respective grades except for Music, Art, Physical Education/Health, and Computer Science and Application which is taught by specialized teachers.

The teachers specializing in the various academic areas teach the subject areas for the Junior High Students in grades 6 through 8.
